Rusack in the Press
Island Vintage
“News that Alison Wrigley Rusack
and husband Geoff Rusack are about to launch the first-ever
wines grown on
Santa Catalina Island is fresh off the press. After much
buzz and speculation among vintners in the know, their debut
release – an island-grown chardonnay, pinot noir and
zinfandel from the 2009 vintage – is just months away
(and has serious wine drinkers on a growing waiting list
ready to pop the cork). But in some ways, this story really
began close to 30 years ago." Click here to read the story!

Island Vineyard Bears Fruit
Wines & Vines,
January 2011
With its second harvest in and first vintage
bottled, Rusack Winery will debut the wines from its Catalina
Island
vineyard
this year. The historic event represents a long-held dream.
Alison Rusack’s great-grandfather William Wrigley Jr.
bought the Santa Catalina Island Co. in 1919. The company
still owns all developable land on the island, including
El Rancho Escondido (Hidden Ranch) on the southwestern coast
of the rugged, 76-square-mile Pacific island 22 miles from
Los Angeles. In 2007, the Rusacks planted their first grapes
at Rancho Escondido. Today, just more than 2.5 acres are
planted to Pinot Noir; 1.5 acres to Chardonnay and about
half an acre to a unique clone of Zinfandel. Read the entire
story here.

We are very honored that Rusack Vineyards
has been selected by the readers of the Santa Ynez Valley
Journal as The Best Winery in the Santa Ynez Valley!
In a recent interview with Santa Barbara
Independent journalist Sao Anash, James Laube, influential
wine critic at Wine Spectator, was asked to name his favorite
Santa Barbara County producers. We are very pleased that
Rusack was among those named. Read
